Instead of taking your bathing suit off and soaking it in cold water, simply put it on in the shower after your swim.
When hand washing, do not use powdered detergents, as they may not dissolve or rinse well. Never use chlorine bleach to bleach or remove stains from suits.
Distilled white vinegar can be used as an emergency laundry detergent substitute, as it both deodorizes and reduces bacteria on fabrics.
If possible, put on an old suit in the hot tub or wash your suit as soon as possible. Hot tubs deal a double whammy with excessive chemicals and heat that fade and stretch the suit very quickly.
If you frequently use the hot tub, choose a suit that is 100% polyester and/or chlorine resistant. Cotton and natural fibers cannot withstand chlorinated water.
